Safety alerts

By the end of this page you will know how to raise a safety alert, how a manager decides on one, where alerts show, and who can see them.

Each video is under a minute. Watch the ones that match your job.

Only raise an alert if it changes how the work is done

A safety alert warns the team working with a whānau about a risk to staff.

1. What a safety alert is

The three levels, the raise form, and what happens after you raise one.

  • Low — be aware.
  • Medium — take the precautions.
  • High — serious risk, follow every precaution.

2. Raise an alert

A Case Worker raises an alert from the Service Episode. A manager of the service must approve it. Until then, staff on the Service Episode see it as awaiting approval.

3. Raise an alert as a manager

A manager of the service can raise and approve an alert straight away, or ask another manager to decide.

4. Approve an alert

Alerts waiting for you are on your dashboard, under Pending Safety Alert Confirmations. Only a manager of that service can approve.

5. Approve with changes

A manager can change the level or the precautions before approving.

6. Decline an alert

Decline with a short reason. The reason is saved. Colleagues do not see a declined alert.

7. Who sees what

If you are allocated to the Service Episode, you see the full alert: the level, the precautions, and why it was raised. Other services only see that an alert exists, and which service holds it.

8. Where alerts show

On the Service Episode overview, on the client page, and as a marker next to the person's name in lists.

9. End an alert

When the risk has passed, a manager of the service ends the alert and gives a reason. Only an active alert can be ended. An alert still waiting for approval is declined instead.
